Nicolai Wiedmer on the international JRE Board
The JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs present their new international board for the 2025-2029 term of office: At the helm is Daniel Canzian from Italy ("Daniel Canzian Ristorante", Milan) as President, supported by Vice President Katrin Steindl from Austria ("Der Unterwirt", Ebbs) and Vice President Nicolai P. Wiedmer from Germany ("Eckert", Grenzach-Wyhlen). The election took place at the most recent international board meeting in Tuscany and marks the start of a new chapter for the association.
Daniel Canzian, renowned chef and restaurateur ("Daniel Canzian Ristorante", Milan), brings many years of experience and a visionary approach to his role as President. Known for his refined interpretation of Italian classics and his passion for sustainability, Canzian places particular emphasis on the use of local, seasonal ingredients. "It is a great honour for me to represent the JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs," emphasises Canzian. "The association stands for excellence and innovation in gastronomy, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to further our mission." The top chef from Italy succeeds Daniel Lehmann, who has been part of the JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs management team for over a decade and has served as President for the past six years.
Particularly pleasing: Nicolai P. Wiedmer, the German Vice President and new member of the international board team, stands for contemporary, regionally rooted gastronomy with his expertise in the field of fine dining. As a respected chef and owner of the "Eckert" restaurant in Grenzach-Wyhlen, he succeeds in combining traditional and modern influences and sending guests on a journey of flavourful discovery. "This role is a wonderful opportunity to carry on the values and quality standards of the JRE," says Wiedmer. "I am looking forward to strengthening our association as German Vice President and promoting young talent."
Katrin Steindl from Austria, also newly elected as Vice President, runs the traditional hotel and restaurant "Der Unterwirt" in Ebbs together with her sister. Their work combines innovation with tradition and is characterised by hospitality that goes deep. "Der Unterwirt", which is also based on a family-run farm, is regarded as an important culinary and cultural institution in the region. Steindl sees her new role as an opportunity to represent these values in the international JRE community.
"This leadership combines deep expertise, commitment and a clear vision," says CEO Hans van Manen. "The new board team will lead our association with vision and passion and continue to make a difference in the international restaurant industry."
With over 400 member restaurants in 16 countries, JRE-Jeunes Restaurateurs remains at the forefront of fine dining and is committed to nurturing the next generation of top chefs and creating excellent culinary experiences.
