Reto Brändli leaves the Adlon

Switzerland, Berlin

The two-star chef will take over the management of the Ecco restaurants in St. Moritz and Ascona from April 2025

ASCONA. Head chef Reto Brändli is leaving the two-star restaurant Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer in Berlin. On 1 April 2025, he will take over from Rolf Fliegauf at the Ecco restaurants in St. Moritz and Ascona.

After his first-class performance in the "Cà d'Oro" at the Grand Hotel Kempinski in St. Moritz and his impressive time in Berlin, the 33-year-old chef from Schwyz is returning to his home country. With his exceptional culinary skills and extensive experience, he will bring a breath of fresh air to the kitchens of the Giardino Hotels and set new accents, according to a statement from the hotel group. Reto Brändli is known for his creative approach to modern gastronomy. His innovative creations, including "Foie gras & Lobster", prepared with nitrogen and soldering irons, have caused a stir both in Berlin and on the international culinary scene. It remains to be seen what exciting dishes he will create for the Ecco restaurants.

Philippe Frutiger, CEO of Giardino, emphasises: "Reto knows Ticino and the Engadine very well and has already cooked in our Ecco restaurants for four years. He is not only an outstanding chef, but also a wonderful personality." With experience at culinary greats such as Andreas Caminada and Benoît Violier, Brändli brings with him an impressive range of expertise. His return is a valuable addition to the gastronomy in Ticino and the Engadine and promises exciting flavour experiences for guests and locals alike. The anticipation of Reto Brändli's return is palpable among both Ecco employees and guests. The Ecco restaurants are synonymous with the highest culinary quality, and Reto will continue this tradition with his creative vision and take us into new dimensions of flavour.
