New opening in Munich

New restaurant at the Theresienwiese

München, Bayern

Marie-Therese restaurant with contemporary Bavarian-Austrian cuisine

MUNICH. Munich has a new restaurant - in the immediate vicinity of the Theresienwiese is the "Marie-Therese Gasthaus", which is a house for guests in the truest sense of the word: from lunch to dinner with dishes from the Bavarian-Austrian cuisine tradition, the matching drinks, a parlour and a terrace with a direct view of the Theresienwiese. The Marie-Therese Gasthaus is run by the three restaurateurs Niklas Hacker, Philipp Schlick (Le Florida, Amistad, among others) and Wolfgang Hingerl (Team Mural, among others), as well as operations manager Domink Kneidl - all four long-standing friends and colleagues who are now joining forces with their collective expertise and passion for hospitality.

The large dining room at Marie-Therese in one of the historic townhouses on Theresienwiese at Pettenkoferstraße 48 can accommodate up to 120 guests. When the weather is right, guests can also look directly onto the Theresienwiese from the terrace (74 seats), shaded by old trees, and watch the hustle and bustle there. From August, a Munich pub garden will be set up in the neighbouring St.-Paul-Straße, where a further 28 seats are already available on the pavement as an additional "open air" seating area. The name "Gasthaus" was chosen with care, because with cuisine from lunch to dinner (the Marie-Therese is open all day with small dishes and cakes in the afternoon), but also a classic "Schwemme" for a "quick pale ale" and many tables of different sizes for small groups or large parties, the Marie-Therese is a house for guests - and the menu is also varied to cater for the diversity of guests' wishes:

Contemporary Alpine cuisine from lunch to dinner

"We stand for contemporary cuisine with a regional and seasonal character. A lunch menu and a weekly menu bring variety to the table, while in the afternoon gourmets will find snacks and coffee specialities. From a sparkling aperitif to a cool beer in company to selected wines, our drinks menu leaves nothing to be desired," says Niklas Hacker about the restaurant's offer. Alpine dishes from Schlutzkrapfen to Wiener Schnitzel, fish from Bavarian lakes or Obadzda dominate the menu, on which guests will find plenty of choice - numerous starters and snacks also invite guests to order several dishes, and even the main courses are sometimes offered in two portion sizes to satisfy both individual appetites and the desire for variety.

Regional ingredients are a matter of course at Marie-Therese and there is already an absolute favourite dish: Since opening in July 2024, the homemade Buchtel with apricots and vanilla sauce has been a "must" for guests to round off their meal at the Marie-Therese restaurant, which skilfully combines tradition and modernity - in its food and drinks, but also in its overall appearance.
