Sommelière Nancy Großmann leaves the Rutz
BERLIN: Restaurant Rutz in Berlin-Mitte has had to make a painful personnel change: Long-time sommelier Nancy Großmann is leaving Rutz at her own request on 15 September 2024, and intensive work is currently underway to find her successor.
Nancy Großmann's name has been associated with the recent success story of the Rutz restaurant for six years. She was previously associated with the Rutz owners Anja and Carsten Schmidt as a long-standing employee of the Schmidt wine shop. Now, after more than six years as a sommelier, Nancy Großmann is leaving Rutz on 15 September 2024 at her own request to pursue a new career path. "We naturally regret Nancy's decision, which we have to accept with a heavy heart. We are losing a great person close to us and also a brilliant, popular and universally recognised sommelier," said Marco Müller and the Schmidt family sadly.
The personal and professional recognition was also reflected in remarkable and well-deserved awards: Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung's Favourite of the Year 2019 -Sommelière of the Year , Gault&Millau Sommelière of the Year 2021, Excellent Wine Concept 2022 VDP, Der Feinschmecker Sommelière of the Year 2023, Rolling Pin Awards #1 at 50 Best Sommelier 2023, Falstaff-Weinguide Deutschland Sommelière of the Year 2023 and Falstaff Wine Trophy 2024.This honours not only Nancy Großmann's personal expertise, but also her contribution to the Rutz success story. After all, Nancy Großmann has played a major role in making Rutz a leading top restaurant in Berlin and nationwide and a top destination known far beyond Germany's borders.
"She will always be an important part of the Rutz family, not only because of her professionalism and professional successes, but also because of her unique personality. We are not saying goodbye, but "goodbye", affirm Anja & Carsten Schmidt. The entire Rutz restaurant team as well as Marco Müller, Anja and Carsten Schmidt would like to thank Nancy Großmann for her extraordinary commitment and the very good, friendly and professional cooperation and wish her all the best for her future.
Of course, intensive work is currently underway behind the scenes to replace one of the immensely important factors in the interplay between kitchen and guest, as well as between dishes and precisely coordinated vinophile or innovative non-alcoholic accompaniments.
