Seafood restaurant Wasser closes

Berlin

Last service on 31 July

BERLIN: The successor to the Michelin-starred restaurant Cordo, Seafoodbar Wasser, is closing for good just seven months after changing its concept. According to the restaurant's newsletter, the last service will be on 31 July. "The reasons are very simple and easy to explain: Germany in 2024! Rent increases, VAT, shortage of skilled workers, ailing infrastructure, lack of daycare places, shift to the right, shift to the left, geopolitical situation, escalating bureaucracy, energy prices, consumer behaviour, blah blah blah. . Doesn't matter. That's the way it is. We're not leaving bitter. We're just... going into the water," it says.

The Cordo was the successor to the Cordobar and received a red star in the Michelin Guide for Yannick Stockhausen's cuisine and a green star for sustainability 16 months after this change. At the end of 2023, the restaurant was converted into a seafood bar.
