New ‘Königshof‘ opens

München, Bayern

MUNICH: The Koenigshof, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Munich, opens its doors. Munich entrepreneurs Dr Hans and Astrid Inselkammer with their daughter Dr Nicole Inselkammer and the entire MHP Hotel AG team are delighted to welcome their first guests just in time for the opening match of the European Football Championship 2024 on 14 June.

"We would like to thank everyone involved from the bottom of our hearts for realising the opening of this unique hotel in time for the 2024 European Championships. It was always our dream to not only present the Koenigshof to the many international guests on this occasion, but also to offer Munich residents a new and exciting location," says Dr Jörg Frehse, CEO of MHP Hotel AG.

Designed by Spanish star architect Nieto Sobejano, winner of the architectural competition initiated by the City of Munich, the hotel, as part of Marriott International's Luxury Collection, captures the timeless sophistication and cosmopolitan attitude of Munich with a new, contemporary design that beautifully embodies the city's history and culture.

"The idea was not only to open another luxury hotel in Munich, but also to convey the Munich lifestyle alongside international free spirit. For us, this also means that the hotel welcomes overnight guests as well as becoming a favourite spot for Munich residents. We have created a fantastic rooftop bar with a view over the city and developed a unique catering concept for Munich," adds Michael Wagner, COO of MHP Hotel AG.

Culinary delights with the rooftop restaurant GRETA OTO

The Koenigshof offers an exceptional culinary offering that gives guests maximum flexibility and leaves nothing to be desired: They can choose to enjoy breakfast in the restaurant on the 9th floor with panoramic views or in the bar, which serves local Bavarian dishes, among other things. The innovative concept continues in "The Green" & "The Gold" on the 3rd floor: the day bar and lounge offer a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city with specially created delicacies such as Koenigshof tea, Koenigshof Bellini or the teatime highlight, the Koenigshof cake: a homage to the world-famous Bavarian Prince Regent's cake.

The later the evening, the more colourful it gets: in the rooftop restaurant GRETA OTO, the Latin American restaurant under the direction of the renowned Peruvian chef Michael Cánepa will surprise you. Extraordinary cocktails from Latin America can be enjoyed in the adjoining bar, while the roof terrace offers a unique view over Munich.

"As a traditional Munich company, it was very important to us to create a place with the Koenigshof that reflects the city's attitude to life. With the combination of literally breathtaking architecture, exceptional gastronomy, exclusive event facilities and a renowned art collection, we hope to have succeeded in doing just that," says Dr Nicole Inselkammer.

Using the term "Serenity" to express the feeling of serenity and calmness, Nieto Sobejano Architects and Landau + Kindelbacher honour the historical heritage of the building while reinterpreting luxury in a modern way. Upon arrival, guests are welcomed into a breathtaking, spacious atrium. Slatted structures and large, gold-coloured walls open up the façade to Stachus, creating a connection between the hotel's interior and exterior to create a luxurious urban retreat.

Inside the hotel, art plays a key role. Koenigshof's aim is to seamlessly combine Bavaria's rich tradition of art collecting with the city's current passion for fine art. The art on display at the hotel represents nationally and internationally renowned artists such as Joseph Beuys, Christo and Jeanne-Claude and David John Flynn, among many others, and complements the hotel's architecture and interior design.

The feeling of privacy and exclusivity is also conveyed by the design of the 106 rooms, carefully curated by the Munich-based firm Landau + Kindelbacher, which was commissioned to develop the interior design concept. Warm contrasts meet a sophisticated combination of modern interiors, curated works of art and elegant textiles - always combined with the latest technological equipment. Each room radiates the cosmopolitan and warm personality that characterises the Munich lifestyle. A personalised welcome card with illustrations by Munich designer Alexandra von Frankenberg, a fragrance created especially for the Koenigshof and Koenigshof tea ensure this.

"Munich is one of the most dynamic and historic cities in Europe, making it the ideal location for the first The Luxury Collection Hotel in Germany, a brand known for celebrating authenticity and local hotel experiences," said Helen Leighton, Vice President, Luxury Brands, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Marriott International.

As the centrepiece of the Koenigshof, the spectacular 250 square metre Presidential Suite offers the ultimate in luxury, including a separately bookable private SPA with its own pool on the second level. With its fabulous view over the city, the Koenigshof's presidential suite can confidently call itself the largest hotel suite in the city. In addition to the private pool and sauna, the private SPA includes an experience shower with high-quality SPA products and a private SPA lounge, which offers hours of complete relaxation thanks to a selected room service menu.
