Gault Millau awards go to Berlin, Munich and Göttingen

BERLIN. This evening, in Tim Raue’s restaurant LaSoupe Populaire another Berlin chef with two stars will be declared chef of the year by the Michelin competitor Gault Millau. Daniel Achilles, the chef at Reinstoff will be receiving this honour. In addition the restaurant Reinstoff has been awarded 18 points, an increase of one point. Four chefs this year were awarded the highest possible number of points of 19.5. These are: Klaus Erfort, Helmut Thieltges,Joachim Wissler and Harald Wohlfahrt. Considering where the ceremony will take place, Tim Raue’s restaurant LaSoupe Populaire, it probably comes as no surprise to find that Tim Raue can now call himself restaurateur of the year. Climber of the year – another of Gault Millau’s categories – will be a woman: Jacqueline Amirfallah from Gauß in Göttingen. Just recently there was an illustrated review of her current menu placed in the Restaurant-Ranglisten forum (though not in English). Gault Millau considers Tohru Nakamura the discovery of the year, awarded for his work at Geisels Werneckhof in Munich which received its first star last Thursday.   The distinction of being the sommelier of the year goes – as already reported in our German news - to Markus Berlinghof from Jacobs Restaurant in Hamburg. Maître d’ of the year is Jérôme Pouchère who directs the service in Gästehaus Klaus Erfort in Saarbrücken. The award of hotelier of 2014 goes to Bavaria, to Dietmar Müller-Elmau (Schloss Elmau).
