The Olympus of celebrity chefs at Schloss Bensberg

COLOGNE. For the 11th time, on 25th August 2013, the Althoff Grand Hotel Schloss Bensberg opens its doors to that culinary event of the extra class. At mobile kitchen modules sixteen top chefs from four countries holding a total of 27 Michelin stars, 229.5 Gault Millau points and 36.5 Feinschmecker grade “F” will be coming together to prepare their dishes under the eyes of the guests. In addition “Althoff’s Festival of the Master Chefs“ is an opportunity to acknowledge the particular achievements of chefs of the “Althoff Hotel Collection”. For example as a German first, the restaurant Vendôme has made it into the gastronomic world ranking list of “World’s 50 Best Restaurants” and Christian Jürgens has been elected “Chef of the Year 2013”, as Thomas H. Althoff stresses. The following will be particiapating: Tim Raue (**Restaurant Tim Raue, Berlin), Michael Wignall (** Restaurant The Latymer, Pennyhill Park Hotel & Spa, Bagshot, Surrey GB), Denis Feix (**Gourmetrestaurant Il Giardino, Columbia Hotel Bad Griesbach) und Christian Scharrer (**Buddenbrooks Restaurant, A-Rosa Resort, Travemünde). Also Onno Kokmeijer (**Ciel Bleu Restaurant, Hotel Okura, Amsterdam), Masanori Tomikawa (*Restaurant Yamazato, Hotel Okura,Amsterdam), Erik van Loo, (**Restaurant Parkheuvels Rotterdam). The following Germans will also be participating: Dirk Luther (**Restaurant Meierei Dirk Luther, Alter Meierhof Vitalhotel, Glücksburg )and Thomas Martin (**Hotel Louis C. Jacob, Hamburg) From Althoff hotels there will be Joachim Wissler, Nils Henkel, Christian Jürgens, Hans Sobotka, Thierry Thiercelin, Marcus Graun und William Drabble who bring a total of ten Michelin stars, 89.5 Gault Millau points and 18 Feinschmecker “Fs” with them. -Punkten und 18 Feinschmecker „F“. The festival starts off with a champagne reception in the hotel’s lobby at 13.00. Afterwards the rooms of the baroque castle will be open till 17.00 for the “Walking Lunch”. During this guests can wander from one kitchen modul to the next and taste the dishes and also special wines from German and foreign regions. Price p/p: € 235 incl. all food and beverages. As a starter:  Festa Italiana With a spezial culinary highlight gourmets can start the weekend of indulgence at Althoff Grand Hotel Schloss Bensberg a day earlier, on 24th August 2013. Under the aegis of Walter Leufen (Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt) and Marcus Grau (Althoff Grand Hotel Schloss Bensberg) a culinary journey to Italy starts at 13.00, starting with fresh antipasti and homemade pasta. These will be accompanied by Italian wines and gelati served from a traditional Italian ice cream cart. In the evening the guests can look forward to drinking an aperitif together before enjoying an Italian six-course menu with the appropriate Italian wines The culinary weekend at Althoff Grand Hotel Schloss Bensberg with an overnight stay in an exclusive double room, comprehensive breakfast buffet, participation in the Festa Italiana and the Althoff Festival of the Master Chefs can be booked for € 585.
